This release from The Cynics isn't new music, but a new way to listen and enjoy. Get Hip Recordings reissued the garage rock group's 1989 album, RockNRoll, as a deluxe edition to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Included in the expanded release are photos and memorabilia, an updated cover with liner notes by Eric Davidson (New Bomb Turks), a bonus LP featuring a live performance at KCSB Radio in Santa Barbara, CA during the initial album promotion tour, and more.
Brightside - "Just Like Dancing"
The lead single off Brightside’s upcoming third album 2012, "Just Like Dancing" will make you feel as the title indicates. It's reminiscent of The Talking Heads with a surf-rock twist.
Lyn Starr - "Fit In"
In June, Lyn Starr dropped Universe 25, which used John B. Calhoun's study on rats to analyze the Pittsburgh rap scene. On Tue., Oct. 1, Starr released the first music for one for the EP's tracks, "Fit In." The video opens on a burning and crumbling Pittsburgh. Starr runs away from the destruction, surrounded by people who turned to look back on the city, frozen like pillars of salt. The introduction features music from the track, “S & G (feat. Saige),” also from Universe 25.
After this, scenes begin to flow into each other and “Fit In” begins. Starr is surrounded in darkness by a swaying, lifeless crowd, but is soon standing outdoors in an open field. The viewer moves in and out of these contrasting scenes, all while Starr is rapping about not fitting in the box that this city forces its artists into. The video ends with the rapper speaking on the power of manifestation and how “the world will do what I say;" there's no box to fit inside, there is only an endless universe to create, with no limits to one’s creativity.
Dan + Shay, Justin Bieber - "10,000 Hours"
Grammy-winning country duo made up of Shay Mooney and Pittsburgh native Dan Smyers teamed up with Justin Bieber for "10,000 Hours," a country-pop crossover about love and their wives. Get ready to hear this all over top 40 radio stations this fall (think the newest Jonas Brothers "Sucker").
