Last night, musician Marc Rebillet closed out the North American leg of his “The Comeback Tour” to a sold-out crowd at The Rex Theater.

For those not familiar with Rebillet, or “Loop Daddy," in just a few years, he went from playing sets at bars in his hometown of Dallas and streaming them on YouTube, to selling out large venues all over North America and Europe. His musical style ranges from soulful serenading piano ballads to funky bass licks to downright club bangers, and is always accompanied by his unique sense of humor and on-stage charisma.

A major factor in Rebillet’s rising success is his ability to create a one-of-a-kind experience every single time he performs. Improvisation is his signature; everything - lyrics, notes, etc. - is made up on the spot, often influenced by crowd participation. Because of this, a crowd full of fans who have heard all of his songs and seen all of his videos, feel as though they’re experiencing him for the first time.

Often after seeing a performer, I’ll cross them off my list. Not due to dissatisfaction, but because I was content. With Rebillet, however, I’m left sitting here a day later wondering when he will be back in Pittsburgh.
