Bodiography Contemporary Ballet is bringing great performances to dance fans in Pittsburgh and beyond with its 2019-20 season.

The Pittsburgh-based dance company and school announced its new season with a number of local dates, starting with a company-in-residence at the Butler County Community College Succop Theater in Butler, Pa. (Sept. 28). On Nov. 22-23, La Roche University will present Bodiography's Multiplicity at the Byham Theater, which will feature a guest performance by Italy's Matrafisc Dance. Bodiography founding artistic and executive director Maria Caruso will also set and present a new work with Ina Colizza and Antonello Apicella.

The schedule also includes Unveiled, a collaboration with the Buglisi Dance Theatre on Feb.7-8 at the Byham Theater, featuring guest choreographers Virginie Mecene and Ze'eva Cohen.

Bodiography will present the classic holiday ballet The Nutcracker at the La Roche Motherhouse Theater (Dec. 6-8) and premiere a new site-specific work from Caruso and feature guest soloist Carrie Ellmore-Tallitsch of the Martha Graham Dance Company during a spring gala (April 23-25).

Bodiography will take its work on the road with a touring show of Caruso’s original ballet Rearview Mirror at the Avenel Performing Arts Center in Woodbridge, N.J. (March 31-April 4).

From March 6-22, Bodiography will embark on a European tour with performances in England, Germany, and Italy. From July 1-7, Bodiography will perform on the main stage of the Karmiel Dance Festival in Israel, where its mixed repertoire performances will include Caruso performing Martha Graham's Lamentation. They will also create new work in Bermuda for the Bermuda Civic Ballet (July 22-27).

Spokesperson Dick Roberts says that this latest season continues Bodiography's mission to “preserve the tradition of classical contemporary ballet, promote the appreciation of contemporary dance, create new enduring works through visiting artist/companies collaboration, and educate aspiring dancers to the performing arts."
