Clear & Present Stranger: Words from Incarcerated Writers

The program is designed to call attention to the physical absence of the writers. Centering on issues of social justice, it is a collaborative effort between writers and performers. As much as possible, it is designed to facilitate “conversation” between incarcerated writers—who will be present in words only—and you, the audience. The program will conclude with a Q&A. The event will be video recorded and shared with the incarcerated writers. Pitt undergraduate students will perform the poetry and fiction written by incarcerated writers.
