Misra Records teams up with SuperMonkey Recording Co

Christian Groblewski, president of SuperMonkey Recording Company and Rockburgh Booking Agency, and Jeff Betten, general manager of Misra Records, noticed there was a void in the Pittsburgh music market.

"To break through, artists need to tour and play live in a variety of venues," says Groblewski. "We know from personal experience how hard that wall is to break through, especially without guidance. Playing live in new markets involves risks for both the artist and the promoters."

In hopes of bridging the gap between those on a DIY level and those with larger agencies, Groblewski and Betten decided to team up and combine SuperMoney's booking agency with the wider industry-based brand recognition of Misra Records to create Misra-SuperMonkey (MSM) Booking Agency.

“We wanted to form this new endeavor for the benefit of our artists, as well as for the benefit of artists all across Pittsburgh,” says Betten. “Most of the country’s larger booking agencies aren’t able to sign smaller bands because they don’t earn enough money per show to justify the work involved in securing the gigs."

Serving as sort of an incubator, the operation will provide new and expanded touring opportunities for artists with a focus on, but not limited to, those based in and around the Greater Pittsburgh region. Industry leaders Ed Traversari and legendary concert promoter Pat DiCesare will serve as advisors.

"Our goal is to help artists make smart decisions by working with an experienced team that has a vested interest in their success and getting them broader exposure both in and out of Pittsburgh," says Groblewski. "We’re excited to help local artists take it to the next level."
