This morning local officials gathered at the Portico of the City County Building downtown for a press conference. State Rep. Dan Miller, Mayor Gainey, Congressman Chris Deluzio and Congresswoman Summer Lee addressed the potential impact of GOP cuts to Medicaid to a crowd of concerned citizens. Rep. Summer Lee said, “If we don’t protect Medicaid funding, it will be catastrophic. Over 80 million people in our country – elderly and disabled adults, postpartum mothers in the midst of a maternal mortality crisis worse than anything we see in the ‘Western world,’ children and infants, Democrats, Republican, rural, urban, and suburban – all rely on Medicaid as the primary program providing them comprehensive health coverage.”
