Punxsutawney Phil visits Wigle Whiskey

Wigle Whiskey hosted a meet and greet featuring Punxsutawney Phil and the Groundhog Club ahead of Groundhog Day on Jan. 18. Attendees enjoyed craft cocktails featuring Phil’s Shadow rye whiskey and posed with the infamous groundhog. Members of Punxsutawney’s Inner Circle, Tom Dunkel, Dave Gigliotti, Rob Gemmell and Patrick Osikowicz handed out Groundhog Day coins to Phil’s loyal fanbase. Towards the end of the event, Tom Dunkel woke up Phil and held him out of his enclosure so fans could get a closer look. Last year the groundhog didn’t see his shadow, predicting an early spring. This year, thousands of people will gather on Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney to see Phil’s prediction, a tradition that dates back as early as 1887.
