Last night, Protesters rushed through Police barricades on the Lawn of the Cathedral of Learning in an attempt to enter the encampment around 7 p.m. University of Pittsburgh Police and city officers met protesters with force, using clubs and threatening the use of tear gas. Officers suited up in riot gear and continued to standoff against protesters for hours. By 11 p.m. protesters began making plans to negotiate with Mayor Ed Gainey.
