33 1/3 Series. Bloomsbury’s 11-year-old run of small books on notable rock albums by diverse writers recently published its 100th installment. A favorite thus far is Murmur, J. Niimi’s suitably chewy exploration of REM’s crepuscular 1983 debut LP.

Millvale Riverfront Trail. So close to the city, but so much like the woods — replete with houses for chimney swifts. The sound of traffic zipping by on nearby Route 28 keeps the urban vibe intact. Do look out for geese, though.
