Zinzi Clemmons

In author Zinzi Clemmons’ 2017 debut novel What We Lose, a college student’s life begins to fall apart after her mother dies of cancer, and she has to learn to live with the grief while navigating a complicated time in her life. The story is roughly based on Clemmons’ own life and the diaries she kept while caring for her sick mother. Clemmons will speak at the McConomy Auditorium at Carnegie Mellon University about leadership and literature, as part of a joint event with the business and English departments.
