Pilobolus’ Shadowland, Feb. 10 and 11

In Shadowland, world-renowned contemporary dance troupe Pilobolus employs an unusual hybrid of dance and shadow theater to tell the by-turns scary and comedic story of a young girl’s fantasy world. In acclaimed composer Laura Kaminsky’s new opera, As One, a mezzo-soprano and a baritone portray a single transgender protagonist, named Hannah, on her emotionally fraught journey from childhood to adulthood. Peter and the Starcatcher, Rick Elice’s 2009 play, and later a Tony-winning Broadway hit, is a grownup prequel to the Peter Pan stories, about an orphan boy and a “starcatcher-in-training.” The action- and music-filled play is based on a novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, and Pitt Stages is the first regional troupe to stage it.
