Kevin Nelson (a.k.a. drag performer Lola LeCroix) gets fitted for a tux at Eons Fashion Antique on Ellsworth Avenue. "Richard Parsakian costumes a lot of local shows and helps with costumes when movies come to town, so he can look at something and figure it out pretty fast. A lot of people think his store is a thrift shop, but it’s not. It’s vintage. He’s very proud of what he has there. He curates all the pieces. It’s almost like a museum," Colombo says.

"Kevin had a great attitude and was very positive while trying on both the dress and tux," Colombo says.

"What we did was more like a magazine shoot. That was exactly how Lisa [Cunningham, the CP Art Director] described the project from day one. She wanted it to look like a bridal magazine. And the whole shoot ran more like a magazine shoot than a newspaper shoot, which is a lot more involved," Colombo says.

"The whole thing was fun. It felt like we worked on it for like a year. The final product made it look like it was easy, but between the dress and tux fittings, finding the cake, solving florist problems, there were a lot of little steps involved. It was a dream team," Colombo says.

"It was one of the best projects I’ve worked on in a very long time. It was fun working with Kevin, and Dana [Mazzarini, Style Exchange Boutique owner] was also very excited about the whole thing," Colombo says.

"I sort of liked the first dress, but I think Kevin said something about it not fitting correctly in the waist and that maybe it wouldn’t give him the feminine figure. When he tried on the second one, we all agreed that it was the one. He’s a performer, so of course he would know what would work the best," Colombo says.

"It was like shooting one person and then shooting another person. He [Nelson a.k.a. LeCroix] has a lot of modeling experience. As a wedding photographer, I spend a lot of time thinking about weddings. A typical bride and typical groom, as beautiful and happy they may be, they do not have as much as experience in front of the camera, so it’s all about making them calm and comfortable," Colombo says.
