TRNSGNDR/VHS

The woozy, intoxicating experimental noise of TRNSGNDR/VHS comes to 3577 Studios, along with local support from axolotl and Olivia II, courtesy of Women In Sound and girlFX. Noise can be a divisive, punishing style of music, but the work from this artist, particularly the track "Geography" from the 2015 EP Condominium, is inexplicably inviting. It's harsh, disorienting and hard to follow, but the smart compositions behind the chaos come through clear. The music is alluring delivered through headphones, but the live shows brings the art to a confrontational, provocative new level (at least judging from the sets available online; start there so you know what to expect).
