Many people know “The Rock” to be a famously buff man named Dwayne Johnson, but before he came on the scene, there was another. Therese Rocco, Pittsburgh’s first female assistant police chief, was nicknamed “The Rock,” for her intensity and dedication, by her colleagues in an all-female missing persons department. Rocco will appear at Mystery Lovers Bookshop to promote her memoir, which details her decades of working intense and high-profile cases from the gender discrimination she faced to the brutal reality of confronting parents of a missing child.
