The Iraq War as History: Al-Qaeda and the Rise and Fall of Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi

Speaker Ryan Ahl will: Provide a brief overview of the war in Iraq; Examine the impact of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) on coalition efforts in Iraq; Focus on the emergence of AQI as a prominent threat in Iraq and its leader, Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi; Discuss the internal politics of Al-Qaeda and how they influenced the actions of Al-Zarqawi; Provide observations on wartime experiences during the hunt for Al-Zarqawi from the presenter’s viewpoint.
