This workshop includes a historical overview of this often-misunderstood dance form in addition to conditioning, basic technique, combinations, and choreography. Various names for the dance, its regions of origin, influences, styles, and props will be discussed in order to provide a more accurate context for the dance. No bellydance experience is necessary. Bring water and wear comfortable clothing such as a t-shirt and yoga pants; bellydancers usually dance barefoot.
