"look at more holistic community-centered approaches to criminal-justice " I'm not sure what Mr Bradley means by "more holistic community centered", but I know 2 of my kids have benefited by some of the programs the BGC run. To me things like jobs, health care, affordable housing, education, recreation activities, are 'holistic'; I know for a fact BGC does all of this. Maybe this isn't exactly criminal justice, but sure does a lot to keep kids out of trouble...

Chris, You are correct that the terminology I used was incorrect, (i'm neither an english major nor a math major) The median is the point where half the spaces (in the entire study) are more expensive, and half are cheaper. What the Colliers study appears to have done is taken the median rate in each city, then took the average of those medians. Yeah, NYC and Boston bring the average up, but the Phoenix's and Walnut Creeks bring it down. Still, anyone paying $14+ to park isn't looking hard enough for something cheaper. And maybe the cost of parking will make those that are able, consider public transportation. Or a bike, carpool, walking...

Except for the fact that parkingin Pgh is not expensive. Nationwide, the median rate for daily parking is $15.28. That's above the $14.00 cited in your article, which is actually the highest rate the parking authority charges. Literally 90% of the spaces are cheaper; as low as $3 at the Mon Wharf; or for garages, 9th and Penn, First Ave, 9th &Ft Duq, 9th and Penn are all $10 or less, day rate. Some of the non Authority garages are higher than $14. Private operators are more expensive, of course, but there are still plenty of cheaper spaces.
