Tarana Burke

Last week, the most infamous predator of the #MeToo movement was found guilty of his crimes, a moment that owes a lot to the women who came forward as part of the online movement. Tarana Burke, an activist who began using the phrase “me too” on social media in 2006 to talk about sexual assault, has called it a “movement, not a moment.” She will speak at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center as part of their TRUTHSayers series.
