Stretching the Imagination

Former Pittsburgh designers Anzevino and Florence show their flexibility

In 2000, Pittsburghers William Anzevino and Richard Florence, then in their early 20s, were commissioned to produce a line of T-shirts for The Andy Warhol Museum. By 2003, the pair had relocated to Los Angeles and started their own line, Anzevino and Florence, producing both men's and women's collections.

They now have their own store on Hollywood Boulevard and also sell through nearly 100 stores nationwide, as well as in Canada and Japan. Last October, their men's line was featured in the Gen Art "Fresh Faces in Fashion" Los Angeles runway show for emerging talent.

Their women's collection, depicted on these pages, is built upon "convertible" modular pieces, sewn from ultra-supple, soft-to-the-touch fabrics that can be worn in multiple configurations: very adaptable, very modern.

As flexible as the pieces she is modeling, Erin Carey grew up with Anzevino in Brighton Township. After college, Carey ran off to Bristol, England, to study circus performance at Circomedia. There she learned aerial feats on the trapeze, ropes and other suspended contraptions. For the past two years, she worked with the locally based Zany Umbrella Circus. She often partners with Anzevino and Florence as a model and performer in fashion shows.
