The Devil Eats Cheese Because That's What You Feed Him
Soiler Sounds

Soiler is on a mission to shit out the laziest, vilest ... and funniest ... drunk-punk rawk in the 'Burgh. By the time the 18 originals on its CD have scourged your stereo, you'll find yourself pleasantly awash in your most cartoonish misogynistic thoughts and rock-star fantasies.

Whether it's "Betwixt the Legs of an Angel" or "Leavin' Town Fuck," it's all distorted bass lines, pounding faux-Sabbath drums, saturated guitar sludge and vocalist Chip Hamm goading you to kick your own ass ... and everyone else's.

Despite the band's blasphemous biblical references (and the fact that the CD arrived with the world's largest T-shirt emblazoned with "Fuck You ... I'm With Satan!"), Soiler is really too hilarious to be satanic. Except perhaps in a human-individualism, Anton La Vey sense, as heard in "Don't Waste Your Prayers on Me": "There is no god but me / and girls and drugs to make me dizzy."

For Beelzebub's sake, track seven is called "Gyro of Vengeance."

As if you haven't soiled yourself already, the CD comes with a bonus disc: Under the Covers With Soiler. These nine covers are arguably better than the main disc, with creative desecrations of your teen-age favorites. "Smell the Feces," for example, literalizes the classic Ramones song "My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down."

If the devil eats cheese because that's what you feed him, Soiler fans will eat corned beef ... because at its April 21 CD-release show, the band's serving Rubens, halushki and other hellish delights. If you thought the 31st Street Pub bathrooms were rough before, imagine that menu plus a fifth of vodka splashed all over the toilet rim. Party on, Garth!
