Marijuana should be legal period. There should not even need to be a bill for its medicinal use. The problem stems from drug companies. Marijuana is a weed. It will grow well with very little help, help it, and it will be an amazing crop. This would be a cheap medicine to help people with cancer, glaucoma, AIDS/HIV, and sleep disorders. I personally think it would also help people with chronic back pain as well and would like to see a study done to prove it. Contrary to popular belief marijuana is not an addictive drug. It may be mentally, but not phyically. In my early 20's I smoked it recreationaly, but when I became pregnant, I quit and have not smoked since. But I was never able to quit smoking cigerettes. I cut to 5 a day while pregnant with both my children but could never kick the habit. Marijuana is also not the "gateway" drug that it is claimed to be.I never once tried anything stronger, nor was I tempted to. It is personalities that make people try different drugs, not pot. I suffer from insomnia, I've had it all my life. I only resort to taking ambien when it gets really bad because I'm afraid I'll become addicted. I would much rather take two hits off a bowl, and slowly drift off to sleep and wake up feeling fine, rather than taking the ambien and wake up feeling groggy for most of the morning. It would be cheaper too. Will some people abuse it, sure but how many people are out there abusing percocet, oxycotton, and flexorol? No system is perfect. But to deny the people who could benifit from this plant because some people are foolish is the ultimate in foolishness. And correct me if I'm wrong I've never heard of anyone O.D.ing on pot.
