When a celebrity dies young and tragically, their story often no longer belongs to them or their family but to the press that feeds off of mystery and scandal. Such was the case with actor Montgomery Clift, whose legacy is remembered mostly for his early death and rumored addictions and homosexuality. His life is reexamined in Making Montgomery Clift, a documentary co-directed by the actor’s nephew, Robert Clift, and includes never-before-seen archival photos, footage, audio recordings, and interviews that paint a different picture than what has become canon. The film will screen at The Andy Warhol Museum, with a Q&A with Robert Clift and co-director Hillary Demmon.
