Barbara Kohl is hindering marketing and appraised value of these homes. The MLS is behind the current market and the movement to implement green features has been around for more than a few years. See the Green The MLS website for examples that have been in place for years. When home buyers start using agents outside their MLS, it might send a message. CCI -Get Energy Smarter in Pittsburgh held two events in October. I spoke at both events to agents and a few builders about valuing and marketing green features. It was clear these agents were frustrated about the MLSs lack of proper fields to allow better marketing and appraised value. Before I arrived in Pittsburgh, I searched their MLS public side for a home with energy efficient or green features and none could be found. How is an appraiser supposed to find comparable sales when valuing these homes. Make a difference Pittsburgh and dont give up making your MLS updates. Your customers deserve the best marketing.
