Pittsburgh Crankie Fest 2019

An evening of scrolling panoramic folk art set to traditional music and stories from a variety of voices and visions. Crankies, or moving panoramas, are an old storytelling multi-media art form employing music, spoken word and sometimes shadow-puppets. An illustrated scroll, housed in a box frame, is hand-cranked so it passes across a viewing screen. Most of the crankies at this year's fest will be back-lit. Stories range from the playful to the profound. Artists and musicians from New England, Maryland and Southwestern PA. All ages. $20 Suggested / $10-$25 range. All proceeds support artists.
