Re: “Best of 2008

Who knew that Goodwill was one of the top men's clothiers in PGH? If these choices are the "best" that the good people at CP and its readers can come up with, I suggest that this process end with this year's rankings. I mean, really, the selections say many things about Yinzers and none of them are good. Here are a few takes:

Lake Erie is the "best weekend trip?" Huh? The folks in Akron must be pissed.

Why is there a category for "best Mexican restaurant?" There is No decent, authentic Mexican food within 300 miles of here!

In any town on the West Coast, Nakawa Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar would have been shuttered in two weeks! Unlike REAL Japanese food, the gruel at that joint ain't fit for a WWII death march.

Am I the only one to notice that none of the men selected as "best local athlete" is really a local?

Dozen Cupcakes isn't a bakery, it us a glorified donut shop.

I could go on for hours, but I need to go. I'm off to see the new spring fashions at Goodwill.

Re: “Bust

My wife and I attended this play on 5/31/08. The production values were excellent. I wish I could say the same about the story, but I cannot. Having grown up in Southern California and having handled cases within the Los Angeles County criminal justice system, I found little that was fresh, witty or compelling. I would not recommend that anyone waste their time or money with this show, lest they find out firsthand that the play is aptly titled. We sought out interesting entertainment and found this work to be a total bust.
