The "real story" is that the CNNC board is getting things done. People all over town are talking about the progress being made by this board. Unfortunately, that is exactly what people like Ress (member of the POG anarchist group) don't want. They don't want things to get done, they want things to fall apart. The opposition group would rather see nothing get done and see neighborhoods decay so long as they get to lead the community. In fact, that is their goal and strategy - to prey upon those less fortunate. You don't have to look far to see many leading the opposition own businesses that cater to well-healed patrons and don't employ one person of those they pretend to be protecting from displacement. They would never (and did not) send their kids to local schools and they try and block the very development (commercial and residential) that produces the tax dollars necessary for their pet projects. The irony is laughable.
The reality though is that development is beneficial to all in the community. It means better roads, better schools, access to services and City Hall and more jobs. Those that voted "No" on redeveloping the Garden Theater block must not want those things. The question is, what do they really want?
