So felons with a violent past can resist arrest, assault police officers, and can brandish deadly weapons with zero repercussions? The guy is carrying a 14" knife, he just stabbed a police dog and police are supposed to approach him without using deadly force? Do you know what kind of damage you can do with a knife that big?

Police dogs are trained to subdue, not kill. And as many other people have pointed out, Aren was primarily a drug sniffing dog, he definitely was not trained to rip people's throats out, this isn't hollywood.
