Carlow University English Department presents a reading by Matthew E. Gordley in celebration of the publication of "New Testament Christological Hymns: Exploring Texts, Contexts, and Significance." The Galliot Center, Carlow University Commons. Reception and book signing following the reading. Gordley (PhD, University of Notre Dame) has been researching and writing about early Christian and Jewish psalms and hymns for nearly two decades. His latest book examines the earliest Christian hymns preserved in the New Testament. Grappling with the first century social context of these poetic passages lets us see how the claims in these hymns were not just “religious."
