Negroes with Guns: Rob Williams and Black Power

In the 1960s, Black civil rights activist Robert Williams set up a rifle club to defend his people from the KKK or other violent offenders. His book Negroes with Guns explored violent racism and his disagreements with the non-violent civil rights movement. The 2004 documentary Negroes with Guns: Rob Williams and Black Power tracks the activist’s life and work, offering much discussion on a topic that is as relevant now as it was then. The documentary screens at CLP-Homewood as part of the From Slavery to Freedom film series, presented by the Heinz History Center.
