Re: “Are Pittsburgh city planners overestimating how many people drive to the Strip?

Parking is definitely an issue and so is biking. I live in the Strip and see first hand both of these issues. Smallman should have bike, pedestrian and vehicle lanes and a connector between Smallman and the Penn Ave bike lane could be made on 15th street or 17th and Penn. Much of the new parking garages will be occupied by tenants. These same tenants will also be trying to park on the street for a quick run into a store, as I do. Vast amounts of parking have been lost behind the fruit terminal building. That area used to be full on weekends (Fri-Sun). There is a public garage between 26th and 27th streets associated with The Yards apartments, but that is too far away for folks shopping in the heart of the Strip. We need a parking solution that doesnt impact the original plans on Smallman. How about a parking garage in the lot across from Contemporary Craft that was just opened this summer? Its a good location.
