Re: “Overreaction News

Dear Pittsburgh City Paper & Marty Levine,

Thanks very much for writing & publishing "Overreaction News".
As usual, the PCP does an exemplary job of pursuing the goal
of Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting - a job that the TV 'News'
has probably NEVER cared about in the least.

The article is, of course, an encapsulation &, even though it gets across
the gist of how TV 'News' manipulated the trespass for their twisted
propaganda spin pseudo-connection to the upcoming G20, it's still
missing a few things that I'd like to point out here:

WTAE called the trespassers "assailants", even though no assault was
involved. Why? To associate them with violence. Why? Because,
as author Jerry Mander argued in his excellent book "Four Arguments
for the Elimination of Television", the main product of TV is FEAR
- because it's the easiest way of sucking the TV audience into TV's
shallow world. In addition to that, of course, the FEAR should always
be of democratic forces, in this instance protesters, since TV is funded
by & controlled by autocratic ruling elites.

Furthermore, an unfortunate associated event is that Polish Hill's police liason
told a Civic Association meeting that local crimes are caused by early arrival
G20 protesters. This fairy tale would only be believed by people particularly
out of touch with reality. Alas, though, thanks to TV 'News' and its ilk, such deluded
folks constitute an uncomfortably large portion of society - hopefully NOT a majority.

It seems safe for me to deduce that anti-protester police state forces are behind
both WTAE's & the police liason's blatant misinformation & scare tactics. The G20's
about to happen in Pittsburgh and the government's about to waste millions of dollars to protect the interests of the ultra-rich against the protests of the rest of us.
When was the last time such money was wasted for such a purpose? Back in the
1990s when nazi white supremacists rallied in downtown Pittsburgh. Notice
any similarity?!

Isn't it odd how 'free speech' & the 'right to assemble' are vigorously protected
by the government when the 'free speech' is being said by nazis and white supremacists and the 'right to assemble' is by ultra-rich economic manipulators? I say that it's "odd" because 'free speech' & the 'right to assemble' are just as vigorously suppressed by the government when the 'free speech' & 'right to assemble' is by anarchists & other concerned citizens. It's particularly "odd" considering that anarchists have ALWAYS BEEN FOR EQUAL RIGHTS FOR MEN AND WOMEN OF ALL RACES. Heaven forbid that such a radical notion should be perceived with anything but TV 'News' induced terror!
