If the price of progress is to throw the poor, disabled and elderly into the street, I say that price is too high. Surely we Pittsburghers can not allow this kind of "progress" to continue in our name, without raising our voices to intercede. I call on Mayor Peduto and each and every member of City Council to protect the most vulnerable in our city. Pittsburghers deserve to remain close to their support systems-- and those with the fewest support systems and resources need those support systems the most. They can not be displaced from family and community they rely on and trust. Surely we as a city are better than this? And if we are not, for whom are we The Most Livable City? And for how long?
