Improving Trauma Diagnoses and Treatment: New Models for Examining Cultural, Recovery, and Spiritual Context for Clinical Settings

Treating trauma requires an understanding of the patient’s social context in the past, present, and future, and can be overwhelming for both patient and clinician. This continuing education workshop for for mental health and health care professionals will identify spiritually-integrated trauma treatment models and examine new research that utilizes mindfulness and the patient's religious or spiritual practices to improve outcomes. Stephen Carroll, Ph.D., LCPC will discuss the implications of addictions and recovery on patients with a trauma history and considerations for treatments like EMDR or CBT.
