Hobo With a Shotgun

It's a non-stop bloodbath in this vigilante pic

Canadian Jason Eisner's neo-exploitation flick has a simple hook designed to warm the hearts of any fan of the genre: Rutger Hauer is pissed and packing heat. Hauer portrays the titular anti-hero, who goes on a one-man killing spree to rid a small town of an even bloodier crime family, who pretty much view gruesome slaughtering as just another Thursday night out. There's some tongue-in-cheek about the genre -- as well as a lot of tongues and other body parts hitting the pavement with a bloody smack. (The film began life as a fake trailer as part of Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse.) If your tolerance for evisceration is high, and you can get behind lines like "I'm gonna wash this blood off with your blood," consider this your ticket for old-school drive-in fare.

Starts Fri., June 17. Oaks.
