Japanese-born artist Hiromi Katayama creates her paintings using Nihonga, a traditional Japanese painting technique that has evolved over one thousand years. She even goes as far as importing Japanese traditional pigments and animal-based, collagen glue. Her vibrant works — most of which are painted on wooden panels or paper — focus on nature, particularly cherry blossoms. Her exhibition of these works, Hiromi Katayama: Currents of Color, is open to visitors on the second floor of BoxHeart Gallery.
