As a domestic partner of a county employee, I see first hand what the county policy for same-sex benefits does to our monthy budget. Fifteen months ago, I was laid off. We now spend OVER $500 a month for benefits for me. If my partner worked for the city, the state or the federal government, I would be covered. All this county needs is an executive order signed by Mr. Onorato to get these benefits moving. it really is a disgrace that productive members of society are penalized for their sexual orientation.
