Gladys Knight

The “Empress of Soul” is touching down in Pittsburgh. Gladys Knight, a seven-time Grammy Award-winner with No. 1 hits in pop, R&B, gospel, and adult contemporary, released her first album in 1960 at just 16 with her band, The Pips. Fifty years later, you’ll be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t know at least one of her songs. Tracks like “I Heard it Through the Grapevine,” “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “If I Were Your Woman,” and “Every Beat of My Heart” have made Knight an icon: a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
