Join us for a reading with Frances Bartkowski as she presents her novel, An Afterlife, in a program presented in partnership with the CMU Humanities Festival. An Afterlife follows a young couple, Ruby and Ilya, who meet in a Bavarian displaced persons camp established by the Allies. Both are lone survivors of their families. The novel follows their journey America and their experiences with post-traumatic stress and adapting to a new culture. Frances Bartkowski, author of three books of literary criticism, was director of the RU-Newark Women and Gender Studies and Chair of the Department of English.
