Director David E. Talbert must have put most of the production budget in the collection plate. Strapped for immediate cash, two buddies (a grim Ice Cube and a fidgety Tracy Morgan) discover that their local church is raising big funds. The next night they break in, and wind up holding half the congregation hostage; their poorly timed heist coincides with choir practice and a contentious church council meeting. Talbert then holds us hostage for the better part of an hour while Cube and Morgan exhaust their supply of lame jokes before coming to Jesus and doing the right (if even less funny) thing. Katt Williams as the way-gay choir director owns the film's few chuckles.
