Face of a Nation
The World’s Fair fascinated young Mina Chow - daughter of immigrants, architect and filmmaker. As an adult, Chow’s documentary, Face of a Nation, explores the nature of World’s Fairs, why America has lost its interest in participating and how her idealistic dreams were tested during a visit to her first World’s Fair in Shanghai. Tonight, at the Landmarks Preservation Resource Center, is a screening of the documentary, with a post-film chat with Chow. The film, seven years in the making, “couldn’t be more timely,” says to Washington Post columnist Roger K. Lewis. -LO
