On Tue., Nov. 3, our photo intern Theo Schwarz joined state Senate candidate Heather Arnet for a behind-the-scenes look at what life is like for a candidate on election night. (City Paper previewed the race in our Oct. 21 issue.)
Republican candidate Guy Reschenthaler beat Arnet by about 4,000 votes. However, the seat was only open because Democratic state Sen. Matt Smith resigned earlier this year. The seat will be back up for grabs during next year’s presidential election. On Wed., Nov. 4, Arnet posted this thank-you message on her website:
I am so very grateful to all of you, to everyone who poured your hearts and your hopes into this campaign. To each of you who knocked on doors and made calls, who talked with your friends and neighbors, who emailed and contributed online, to the moms and dads who came to our events, accompanied by their children knowing it was their future we were fighting for. Thank you for donating your time, talent and treasure, and putting your blood, sweat and tears into this campaign. Love and cheers to Team Arnet!
With my deepest gratitude,
