At the big family weekend, a single parent and advice columnist (Steve Carrell) falls for the perfect woman -- his younger brother's new girlfriend (Juliette Binoche). (Oh no, he didn't!) After the meet-cute scene in the musty seaside bookshop, we get a little bit of farce (ye olde trapped-in-the-shower scene); then, the "shocking" revelation followed by righteous anger and remorse, before winding up at the perfect wedding at the aforementioned beautiful beach house. It's all wholly expected and just barely salvaged by the winning pair, Carrell and Binoche -- though mostly you just wish they'd hop in the car early on, and drive off for a better romance elsewhere.
