Dahlak Brathwaite's "Spiritrials"

A young black man is stopped by the police without clear cause, again and again, until one encounter lands him before the courts. Musician, actor, poet and educator Dahlak Brathwaite has taken his personal story and transformed it into the hybrid hip-hop drama "Spiritrials," layering it with humor, character-driven storytelling and poetic verse with original songs accompanied by DJ Dion Decibels. Brathwaite chronicles the journey of an “anonymous” narrator forced to confront his own criminalization and stigmatization and to struggle for vindication within a justice system that would test anyone’s faith.
