Nothing is more emblematic of America’s love of capitalism than Black Friday, the post-Thanksgiving tradition of buying pounds of clothes and electronics at a mild discount. People have started fighting the trend, partly because it encourages stampede-on-the-Serengeti levels of chaos. If you wanna stay away from the mall but still wanna have a good time, Mr. Roboto Project is hosting a free show in honor of Buy Nothing Day, featuring local music including the anti-corporate pop-punk of Johnny Hates 45’s, garage rock by Fortune Teller, surf rock by Water Trash, and the indie psychedelic sound of Pachyderm.

7 p.m.
5106 Penn Ave., Bloomfield.
All ages.
