Classic kung-fu movies

When: Fri., March 9 2018
Price: $7-9
Beginning today at Row House Cinema, it’s a week celebrating the renowned Shaw Brothers Hong Kong studio, with four of its classic kung-fu movies. Scheduled are: Five Deadly Venoms (1978), Legendary Weapons of China (1982) and The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (1978). But if you can only catch one, make it Come Drink With Me, the 1966 film artfully directed by King Hu, that is cited as the inspiration for many significant kung-fu films that followed (including such contemporary films as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). It has a female protagonist, played by Cheng Pei-Pei, who brings balletic grace to her killer moves. -AH
