Also, I can't be the only one that thinks that "Lil Chunky's Chicken Shack" is actually waaaaaay more racially insensitive than "The Coop". It's hilarious to me that this owner thinks it is an improvement!
@Teresa Cottrell It's true that before east lib was mostly black it had a larger white/Italian population. However, the white population in the middle of the last century left the neighborhood for different reasons than todays black residents. That was "white flight" and was completely voluntary. Today, east liberty residents are being forced out by rising rent prices. That is gentrification and yes I agree it is mostly a socio-economic issue, but there are racial reasons why black people are disproportionately effected by poverty.
