This October, the public receives free admission to the Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History every Thursday from 3-8 p.m.

Guests can enjoy exhibits including Teenie Harris Photographs: Cars, one of four on view at the Carnegie Museum of Art.

Charles “Teenie” Harris, a native of the Hill District, spent decades chronicling life in Pittsburgh’s black neighborhoods for The Pittsburgh Courier. Teenie Harris Photographs: Cars includes 25 selections from the museum’s Harris archive and explores the beauty of the classic cars, and the roles they played in Pittsburgh’s segregated black communities.

Visitors can also check out two exhibits offered at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History: Out of this World! Jewelry in the Space Age, which showcases wearable and decorative arts related to outer space, space travel and the space age; and the interactive Animal Secrets exhibit, where families can explore the hidden habitats and secret lives of forest animals through role-play and hands on activities.

The museum also features a cafe with a cash bar and light snacks, and $6 parking after 3 p.m.

“Thursday Nights” is sponsored by UPMC Health Plan.

The Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History are located on 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland.
