Prominent Journalist Speaks on Israel-Palestine Conflict

Max Blumenthal, widely known for his reporting on the Israel-Palestine conflict, gives a free talk tomorrow at Pitt.
The talk, titled “The Strange Death of Liberal Zionism,” is hosted by Pitt Students for Justice in Palestine.

The talk is especially timely, given the new prominence of the Israel-Palestine conflict in the presidential campaign.
Blumenthal’s work has appeared in The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, The Nation, The Guardian, The Huffington Post, Al Jazeera English and more.
He’s also known from his appearances on The Rachel Maddow Show, The Keith Olberman Show and Democracy Now! He’s lately been warning about far-right threats to Israeli democracy.
Blumenthal’s other speciality is reporting on America’s radical Christian right. The New York Times Book Review said that his 2009 book Republican Gomorrah: Inside the Movement that Shattered the Party finds “[a] brave and resourceful reporter adept at turning over rocks that public-relations-savvy Christian conservative leaders would prefer remain undisturbed.”
Blumenthal speaks at 8:45 p.m. in Room 1501 of Wesley W. Posvar Hall, in Oakland. A question-and-answer session follows, addressing the Israeli-Palestine conflict more generally, the Arab spring, and recent attacks on U.S. embassies.
