Beverly Semmes

Avenging feminist vandal sounds like a dream job — though Beverly Semmes is more commonly referred to as an “artist.” Using media ranging from sculpture to film and performance, Semmes examines the complexities of the female body and representation, reshaping conventional sexual content into fun, fantastical, solemn, or powerful statements. She will talk about her work, including her ongoing Feminist Responsibility Project, at the Kresge Theatre as part of the Carnegie Mellon School of Art’s spring lecture series. The event is organized in collaboration with Carnegie Museum of Art and Carnegie International, 57th Edition, 2018.
