There is a major omission to the narrative of this article. Max Gonzalves is not just a Carnegie Mellon student, but he's a visual arts student there. He not only has ample opportunity to display his work and be creative, it's expected of him regularly. This didn't stop him for tagging many sites in town; I'd guess that 58 tags is a low count. I do believe in opportunities for young artists but let's not kid ourselves that opening public walls for murals will make any actual changes in the level of graffiti through town.
